Product Development
Develop furniture products in China with support for design refinement, materials, construction, sampling and technical documentation through Lemot’s development team.
Turn Your Furniture Concept Into a Clear Development Brief.
After understanding your requirements, Lemot coordinates with its product development team to refine the design, materials, construction, sampling and technical information needed to move the concept forward.
Product details are refined before sampling so decisions can be reviewed and documented clearly.

Technical Documentation
Start With What You Have.
You do not need a finished technical file before speaking with us. The starting information can be an original idea, a reference product or an existing item that needs to be refined.
An Original Idea
Define the intended use, customer, visual direction, target price and essential functions before design decisions are developed further.
A Reference Product
Identify which features should be retained, changed or independently developed, then translate those decisions into measurable requirements.
An Existing Product
Review dimensions, materials, construction, packaging or performance issues and define the specific improvements required for the next version.
From Defined Requirements to an Approved Sample.
Each stage produces information or a physical result for review. Development only moves forward after the relevant requirements, design direction or sample decisions have been confirmed.
Define the Brief
Confirm intended use, dimensions, style, target market, performance needs and commercial boundaries.
Client ConfirmationRefine the Solution
Develop the material, construction, finish, hardware and assembly direction against the agreed brief.
Build the Sample
Coordinate prototype or sample production using the current drawings, materials and agreed specifications.
Review & Revise
Record sample findings, identify required changes and confirm the next revision before further work.
Client ApprovalFinalise Development
Consolidate the approved sample details and agreed technical information for the next commercial or production stage.
Final Client ApprovalLemot Coordinates
Development communication, technical clarification, sampling follow-up and documented revisions.
You Approve
The brief, design direction, material choices, sample revisions and final development result.
Know What the Development Fee Covers.
Product development is quoted against a defined scope. The exact documents, samples, revisions and technical work depend on the product and are agreed before the project begins.
Only the deliverables listed in the approved development quotation are included.
-
01
Product Specification
Agreed dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, construction and functional requirements.
-
02
Development Drawings
Product drawings or detail references prepared to the level defined in the project quotation.
-
03
Sample & Revision Record
Sample photographs, review findings, confirmed changes and the agreed number of revision rounds.
-
04
Approved Development Record
The final approved product configuration and current technical details prepared for the next agreed stage.
Sample charges, tooling, laboratory testing, certification, specialist engineering, packaging development and additional revision rounds are not automatically included unless stated in the approved quotation.
A Good Sample Starts With Clear Product Decisions.
Before sampling begins, the product needs more than a visual reference. The intended use, dimensions, materials, construction and delivery format must work together as one defined product direction.
Product Intent
Intended user, environment, function, style direction, target market and commercial positioning.
Form & Dimensions
Overall proportions, key measurements, comfort considerations, clearances and visual balance.
Materials & Construction
Substrates, finishes, upholstery, hardware, joinery, structural approach and practical manufacturing alternatives.
Packaging & Assembly
Knock-down requirements, customer assembly, component protection, carton constraints and delivery considerations.
Your Market Requirements
Tell us the destination market, intended claims and known compliance requirements at the start so they can be considered when the development scope is defined.
Questions to Clarify Before Development Begins.
The answers below explain how scope, costs, approvals and technical work are handled for a separately quoted product development project.
01 Is Product Development Included in Lemot’s 5% Service Fee?
No. Product development is a separately quoted, project-specific service. The scope, deliverables, timing and fee are confirmed before development work begins.
02 What Information Do I Need to Provide?
You may begin with an idea, sketch, reference image, existing sample or preliminary specification. We will also need the intended use, destination market, target quantity, commercial target and any known performance or compliance requirements.
03 How Many Sample Revisions Are Included?
The included number of revision rounds is stated in the approved quotation. Revisions caused by a changed brief, new requirements or additional options may require a revised scope, schedule and fee.
04 Are Sample, Tooling and Shipping Costs Included?
Not automatically. Sample production, tooling, moulds, specialist components and sample delivery are itemised separately unless the approved development quotation expressly states that they are included.
05 Does Development Include Testing or Certification?
Only when specifically included. Laboratory testing, certification and specialist engineering depend on the product and destination market and must be confirmed as separate requirements before they are arranged.
06 Can You Develop a Product From Reference Images?
Reference images can help communicate a direction, but the project should not reproduce protected third-party designs without permission. The client is responsible for confirming that supplied references, artwork and design instructions may lawfully be used.
07 Who Approves the Final Product Direction?
You do. Lemot coordinates the development work and documents the available information, but the client approves the brief, materials, revisions, sample and final development result.
08 What Happens After the Sample Is Approved?
The approved development information can be used for the next agreed sourcing, quotation or production stage. A production order, factory commitment and ongoing order management remain separate commercial decisions and services.
